CinemaSpoke screenplay competition and workshop
Five screenplays will receive partial readings, one a month from April through August, with the winning script receiving a full reading at the September event at the Pulaski Performing Arts Atrium on the fourth floor of the Centene Center for Arts & Education, 3547 Olive St. in Grand Center.
At the partial readings, the first 30 pages of a script will be read by actors, with judges offering critiques and the author responding to questions from both the judges and audience members. Bare Witness: Photographs by Gordon Parks
After launching his career in the early 1940s creating documentary images for the Farm Security Administration, including one of his most enduring, American Gothic, Gordon Parks examined race, poverty and crime as a staff photographer for LIFE magazine. Also respected for his portraits of leading musicians, artists and writers, he provided spreads for notable fashion magazines such as Vogue. Bare Witness: Photographs by Gordon Parks was organized by the Iris & B. Gerald Cantor Center for Visual Arts at Stanford University. Curated in St. Louis by Eric Lutz, assistant curator of prints, drawings and photographs, the exhibition will be on view in Gallery 222.
